I have the honour to ask if you could kindly give me any
information with respect to the following matter.
My sister Winifred in 1890 married in Hong Kong a
German subject hy name Paul Erewitt. They lived in Hong Kong
until 1905 where the said Paul Brewitt died. After his death
my sister left Hong Kong, and went to reside in Germany. She
is still resident there. My sister's property was left in
Hong Kong and was administered by a German firm, After the
outbreak of War, I was appointed by the Governor of Hong Kong,
pursuant to a local Ordinance, liquidator of my sister's
personal estate, she having married a German being an Enemy
subject.
In December 1916 I retired from the Hong Kong Civil
Service on Pension, and have resided in England ever since.
On my retirement Hr, Albert Denison, Architect, of Hong Kong
was appointed Liquidator in my stead.
Mr Denison wrote to me a short time ago informing me
that the Colonial Secretary of Hong Kong had told him that my
sister's property had been sent to England to the Custodian of
Enemy Property. I received no particulars whatever.
The Public Trustee who is Custodian of Enemy Property has
been written to and he replies that he cannot trace this
Property of my sister's
I will feel much obliged if you can give me any informa-
tion on the matter. If the money has been sent home, what was
the amount, and when was it sent, also to whom has it been sent.
I am asking for this information for my sister.
nder Secretary of State
Colonial Office.
